Obituary for John William Breitsprecher

John William  Breitsprecher
John William Breitsprecher, 87, longtime Westport resident and former lineman for AT&T, died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at his home in Westport.
John was born on August 14, 1930 in Riceville, Iowa to Herman F. and Clara Delia (Hanenberg) Breitsprecher. His family moved to Spokane soon after he was born. He graduated from Mead Washington High School in 1949. He then joined the US Air Force in 1950 and was part of the 93rd Supply Squadron and served in the Korean Conflict. Sgt. Breitsprecher was Honorably Discharged in 1954 and returned to Spokane.
He went to work for Pacific NW Bell in Eastern Washington as a lineman.
On June 7, 1965, John married Nancy Webber in Coeur d’Alene, ID and moved to Westport, WA where he went to work for AT&T. John retired in 1984. Nancy passed away on January 11, 2017.
John was a charter member of the Westport Volunteer Ambulance Service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and a avid clam digger. He also enjoyed going to Arizona in the winter.
John is survived by two daughters: Tracy (Ron) Andersen of Aberdeen and Dana (Mike) Perry of Ocosta; two step-sons: Galen (Elvira) Freed of Redmond, WA and Dennis (Cathie) Freed of Spokane, WA; two step-daughters: Bonnie (Mike) Nelson of Pasco, WA and Terrie Lewis and companion Dale of Klamath Falls, OR; 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Mel, Herman Jr., Rex and Roy and a sister Hazel Anderson.
There will be a time of visitation on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 9-Noon at Fern Hill Funeral Home. Graveside with Military Honors will follow at 1 PM in Fern Hill Cemetery.
