Ernest Joseph “Ernie” Eichhorn, Jr., 34, former resident of Walla Walla, died in a highway accident near McCleary, Washington, Friday, September 25, 2015. Ernie was born in Walla Walla, June 27, 1981 the son of Ernest J. and Julie Ann (Reyes) Eichhorn.
Ernie attended Walla Walla High School and would later receive an AA in Horticulture from South Puget Sound Community College, Olympia.
Coming to Lacey, WA in 2009 he began work in landscaping with Outdoors By Design of Shelton while in college, a company he was employed with at the time of his death.
He enjoyed scuba diving, white water rafting, hiking, birding, plant identification and was an artist in pottery, photography and drawing.
Ernie was a gentle, creative and loving soul. He is desperately missed and will carry our love with him always.
Ernie is survived by his mother: Julie Eichhorn, Walla Walla; his father and wife: Ernest and Karen Eichhorn, Portland, OR; a long-time companion: Megan Trubshaw, Lacey; a brother: John, West Linn, Oregon; and a sister: Anna Marie Eichhorn and husband Matt Gall, Madison, Wisconsin.
For celebration of Ernie’s life Saturday, October 3rd, 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm @ Tolmie State Park, 7730 61st Ave NE, Olympia, WA, 98506. All vehicles should expect to pay a $10 parking fee unless you have a Discover Pass, so carpool if you can. Please be prepared to share your favorite Ernie story. If you'd like to bring a dish, please feel free do so.
