The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Alfred Carlberg can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Memories of My Grandpa

There are many things that I will remember until we meet again about the time that we shared together, but here are a few I will think of most:

1.  Whenever I would be at your house staying with you and Grandma, you'd go take a shower and I could hear you whistling a tune in the bathroom.  World-class whistler.  I will always associate the smell of Noxema with you too.  You kept that company in business single handedly.

2.  The morning that Grandma discovered you had left a watermelon laying on the counter overnight after slicing off a piece before bed.  They hold more juice than you'd think, and it was everywhere.  Grandma was as mad as I'd ever seen her...

3.  When my parents were building their home in Montesano we stayed the summer with you.  One night Grandma was ripping into you about something while you watched the news.  You watched her retreat down the hall and around the corner, and then simulated an NFL punter driving a ball 50 yards off of their foot (the ball being Grandma in this scenario), tracing the arc of its path with your finger, and of course, a mortar sounding whistle.

4.  That same summer, the Werthers Originals commercial that came on every night with the Grandpa and the kid was driving me nuts. For Christmas that year you put me on your lap and gave me a package.  I still keep the candies in my desk at work to this day because they remind me of you.

Without a doubt, you will be missed by everyone who knew you.  You were kind, gentle, and always got a chuckle when you knew you screwed something up.  I'm glad I got to spend a few final moments with you this week but I am more grateful to see you in a better place.  I know you weren't enjoying life the way you used to.  I love you very much.
