Mable Rose Younger, 95, Aberdeen resident and former in-home housekeeper, passed away on June 14, 2021 at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam, WA.
Mable was born on May 1, 1926 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Clifton and Rose (Slaton) Owens. She lived in Marlow until the 8th grade when the family moved to Bray, OK where she graduated high school in 1946.
In 1945, she married Charles Robert Baxter in Sapulpa, OK. They later divorced in 1971.
She was working at the glass factory until after the war was over and then she stayed home to take care of her 9 children. In 1965, things got tough, Mable lost three sons, Bobby, Terry and Kenneth Baxter in an automobile accident. She gathered her family and came to Aberdeen in 1966 and worked in restaurants and motels as a housekeeper in Grayland.
In the mid 70’s, Mable went to work in Seattle as a private housekeeper. She would commute to and from Aberdeen until her retirement in 2004.
In 1978, Mable married Jodie Younger in South Aberdeen. He died on September 19, 2008 in Aberdeen.
Mable was one of the founding members of the Hoquiam Nazarene Church. She loved making quilts for every one of her children and grandchildren.
Mable is survived by two sons: Larry Baxter of Seattle, WA and Danny Baxter of Phoenix, AZ; Two daughters: Lavon Peltier of Lexington, OK and Anna Baxter of Lynnwood, WA; a brother, Carl Owens of Oklahoma and a sister, Lena Ramming of Marlow, OK; 12 grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons: Bobby, Terry, Kenneth, Ronnie and Timmy Baxter; a daughter Marie Baxter as an infant in 1969; three brothers: Clifton, Willie and Lloyd Owens and a sister Frances Akins.
There will be a graveside service for Mable on Thursday, June 24th at 1 PM in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA.
