Winafred Irene Moulton

December 7, 1926 — January 30, 2025

Winafred "Winnie" Irene Moulton 98 of Cosmopolis passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life.

Winnie "started her life on a cold windy day" December 7, 1926, in Lebanon, Kansas with Sylvester and Hellen (Wolgamott) Herndon, and 3 siblings. She ended up being the middle of seven children. At 9 years old the family moved to Washington, first Snowden, then living in several towns in Washington and Oregon before finally settling in Vancouver. Winnie graduated from Vancouver High School in 1944. She soon met the love of her life, Richard Moulton, and they married on February 3, 1947, in Vancouver. The couple then moved to Longview, WA in 1949. During their 65 years of marriage, they had 3 children Anna, Rodney and David. While her children were young Winnie was a stay-at-home mom (and a 4H leader while in Longview). In 1960, the family moved to Cosmopolis WA. When her children entered high school Winnie attended Grays Harbor Community college and took business classes and then began working for Burnetts Insurance Co. where she managed the office, sold insurance, and did bookkeeping for 20 years before retiring.

Winnie was an active member of the Grays Harbor Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Aberdeen. She enjoyed sewing, photography, painting, gardening and canning. She was a good cook, and expert baker of pies and loved experimenting with other desserts, creating delicious desserts and lavish special meals for family and friends. One of her signature pies was real mincemeat made with venison. Winnie also loved to travel and enjoyed her annual Mt Rainier camping trips with family, also trips to visit family in Michigan, as well as vacations in Arizona, Hawaii, and Mexico. She was a loving grandmother to 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way and 2 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. She always had the best toys at her home and took her grandchildren shopping where they would play pranks in the clothing racks. She was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. She will be forever cherished and greatly missed.

Winnie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Richard, her son David, her parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. She is survived by her daughter Anna (Charlie) Rabine of Wyoming Michigan, son Rodney (Laura) Moulton of Lacey WA and Janice Moulton of Aberdeen Wa , Big Al, Little Al & Chace of Cosmopolis and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends (Special Thanks to the Holes).
