Beloved lifelong resident of Aberdeen, Ronald Lee Wilson, died at his home in East Wishkah Valley, Monday, August 27, 2012. He was 68. Ron was born in Aberdeen on September 30, 1943, the son of Odis A. and Genevieve (Valencourt) Wilson. He graduated from Weatherwax High School, Aberdeen, in 1962 and had joined the Navy. He served in the Pacific during the Viet Nam War and left the Naval Reserves in 1966.

Ron was married to Rae Ann Merrill in Annis, Idaho on October 24, 1964 and they made their home in Aberdeen.

After the service he started working for Evans Wood Products until 1966 and then Cox Cablevision for two years before joining Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. in 1968. He retired as a log scaler in 1999.

Ron was active in the Aberdeen Elks Lodge serving on the kitchen committee and even did some of the cooking. He enjoyed the coffee bunch at Swanson’s in the morning before going to the Elks. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in Idaho and Alaska, and time with the family camping and BBQs. Time with the family and the grandchildren was important to him, along with western movies, football and being sure the lawn got mowed no matter what the weather.

Besides his wife, Rae Ann, of the family home in East Wishkah Valley, Ron is survived by 3 sons: Ronald Ray and wife Pam, Hoquiam, Brett Alfred and wife Jeniffer, Shelton and Jeffrey Shane and wife Bonnie, Aberdeen; a twin brother: Don and wife Pam, Aberdeen and 3 other brothers: Otis and wife Ann, in Michigan, Daniel and wife Sunny), Cosmopolis and Richard and wife Janelle, Aberdeen; 2 sisters: Ruth Lyles, Aberdeen and Connie and husband Cecil Fisher in Pennsylvania; and eight Wilson grandchildren: Amber, Aaron, Shayna, Brooke, Emma, Ryan, Maree and Sheldon; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A son, Kurtis, died before him in 2009.

In loving memory of husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, a celebration of life and potluck will be held at 1 PM Sunday, September 9th at the Aberdeen Elks Lodge on South Boone Street in South Aberdeen.
