Justin Whisler

July 9, 1937 — March 24, 2012

Justin, known to everyone as Leroy was born on July 9, 1937, and died on March 24, 2012, due to complications with a blood infection, that had caused a growth on one of his heart valves.

Leroy is survived by one brother, Lyle Whisler of Boston, Mass.; a sister, Terri McCullough of Montesano, Wash.; his two children, son, Duane D. Whisler of Aberdeen, Wash.; daughter, Terri A. Cram of Longview, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Cindy R. Whisler; and son-in-law, Mark A. Cram; six grandchildren: Andrew Miller, Amber Cram, William Teague, Shanna Case, Odessa Allen and Katie Whisler and five great-grandchildren.

Leroy was born in Rife a small town in Lewis County. He moved from Rife to Chehalis where he resided to the age of thirteen. At the age of thirteen he and his family moved to Grays Harbor where he resided for the remainder of his life. In his adult life Leroy had several jobs including a grocery store clerk at Highway Grocery that was located on Wishkah St. in Aberdeen and the middle Swansons store. Along with that he was a bell hop at the Emerson Manor located on 7th street in Hoquiam, Wash., cut shakes in a mill in Nielton, Wash., and found his calling working in a plywood mill by the name of Evans Plywood which is where he remained employed until the mill closed. After Evans closure he worked a few odd jobs, like a gas station attendant, and then got a job at Hoquiam Plywood where he remained until he retired.

Leroy had a few hobbies which included camping, gardening, traveling with his family and learning about animals. His favorite flowers were roses and he would try every year to go to the Portland rose garden to see the flowers in full bloom and then visit the zoo to see the animals. Everyone who came in contact with Leroy fell in love with his easy going personality and his warm smile. He will be missed forever and will never be forgotten.

His family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, CNA’s and whoever helped make his last days more comfortable. It is you’re caring, compassion, love and dedication that makes this world a better place to live in we cannot thank you enough for what you did.

A memorial service will be held at the Fern Hill Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, with a reception to follow. Anyone who knew him is welcome to attend the service and reception.
