Guy Paul Teagle, 88, Ocean Shores resident and former log truck driver, passed away on December 9, 2020 at his home in Ocean Shores.
Paul was born on July 8, 1932 in Aberdeen, WA to Paul and Eva (Stephans) Teagle. He grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School. He joined the Army in July 1951 and para-trooped into the Korean Conflict. He was Honorably Discharged in June 1954 and returned to Aberdeen.
He attended Grays Harbor College and then attended Oregon Technical College on a football scholarship, where he majored in carpentry.
On February 12, 1955, Paul married Neila Lillian Young in Aberdeen, WA. Later moving to Elma and in 1999 served on a 3 year mission with his wife on the Navajo reservation in Four Corners known as Many Farms in Arizona. She resides at the family home in Ocean Shores.
Paul worked at the Centralia Coal Plant driving truck for a number of years. Before that he was a timber faller in the area for many years and did some logging at the Valentine Logging Camp on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. For many seasons he was a salmon fisherman and had his own trawler that he fished between LaPush WA and Westport WA.
He enjoyed building beautiful canoes, kayaks, and wooden boats by steaming cedar strips and hand fitting them. He even built a trawler once. You could often see him rowing his hand made skol on the canal and it's many tributaries in Ocean Shores. He also enjoyed fishing.
Paul is survived by his wife of 65 years, Neila Teagle of Ocean Shores; Three sons: Kelsey (Sherry) Teagle of Myton, Utah, Matthew (Elizabeth) Teagle of Gillette, WY and Guy (Carrie) Teagle of Malone, WA; two daughters: Cheryle E. Teagle of Montesano and Delores (Mark) Richardson of Centralia, WA; a brother, Ed Teagle of Hoquiam and a sister Lillian Petrie, of Woodburn Ore; Twenty grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
There will be a private funeral service for Paul on Tuesday, December 15th at Fern Hill Funeral Home, followed by graveside with military honors at the McCleary Cemetery in McCleary, WA.
