Audrey May Strasser, 88, a resident of Elma for 15 years, died at Summit Pacific Medical Center, Elma, Wednesday, November 25, 2015. She was born in Tacoma, WA on February 25, 1927, the daughter of Melvin and Nona (Orr) Ellison. She grew up on Fox Island with her parents and two siblings, a brother Don and a sister Mabel. She would graduate from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in 1944.
Audrey married James LeRoy Forney and they had a daughter, Jeri Jene Forney in July, 1945. Audrey would later be married to LeRoy Edward Strasser in 1969 and they were together until he passed away in 1997.
She worked as an executive secretary for Weyerhaeuser and a cookie company in Tacoma that made Girl Scout Cookies.
She loved to spend time with her family, especially around her in-ground swimming pool in South Tacoma. She was active in her church and “The Singing Christmas Tree” at The Life Center in Tacoma. She moved to Elma in 2000 to be closer to her family.
Audrey is survived by her sister: Mabel Lund, Tacoma; a daughter: Jeri Bedortha, Elma; three granddaughters: Shelley and husband Darrell Borden, Teri and husband Mark Bosler and Jamie and husband Chris Johanson; a great grandson: Dennis and wife Stacie Tobey; five great granddaughters: Darci and husband Collin McMaster, Allison Borden, and Nicole, Anna and Kensi Johanson; and three great great grandsons: Tyler and Aaron Tobey and Evan McMaster.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, December 12th at the Malone Assembly of God Church.
