James Smith

James (Jim) Ronald Smith, age 65, passed away peacefully in Bellevue on Monday, July 9, 2012, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born February 11, 1947 in Aberdeen to the late Francis L. and Elizabeth A. (Mills) Smith. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1965. Following high school, he worked as a choker setter for his father's logging company and joined the U.S. Army in 1966. After his tour, he attended Grays Harbor College where he played on the 1969 championship football team as an offensive tackle. He then played at the University of Washington and graduated in 1972.

On December 16, 1972, he married Miriam Kjesbu in Montesano. She survives, as do three daughters; Anika of Washington, DC, Monica of Seattle, and Mrs. Jim (Jessica) Besso of North Bend, and two grandsons, Jeremiah and Josiah Besso; his brothers, George and Gary; and his sisters, Mrs. Ron (Jeanette) Moore and Mrs. Gene (Jeannie) Yakovich; also his son-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

Jim was known for his kind, gentle and generous heart, as well as his jovial laughter and love for God and His Word. Jim's friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral service in Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
