Dixie Maxine Smith, 92, a lifetime resident of Willapa Harbor and former telephone operator in Raymond, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Willapa Harbor Health & Rehab Center in Raymond, WA.
Dixie was born on January 10, 1926 in Raymond, WA to Frank Edmond and Pearl (Magson) Iman. She graduated from Raymond High School in 1944. On September 14, 1951, she married Forrest Smith in South Bend, WA. He passed away on Feb. 27, 2003.
She was a stenographer for International Woodworkers of America in Raymond for 1.5 years. Secretary for Eichmers Insurance Agency for a year and a telephone operator for seven years in Raymond. She also worked with her husband at Forrie’s Blue Top and operated a firewood business hauling wood from her tree farm. She also worked at Briskies Mill. She was a member when she was younger of the United Methodist Church in Raymond.
Dixie is survived by sons, Forrest Wayne (Donna) Smith of Packwood, WA and Ronald Allen (Glenda) Smith of South Bend, WA; a daughter, Sandra Jo (Chris) Fosse of South Bend, WA; seven grandkids and eleven great grandkids. She was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy James.
Per her request, there will be no services. She will be inurned at Fern Hill Cemetery, Menlo, WA.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.
