Robert Leroy Simpson, 71, former heavy equipment operator for Weyerhaeuser , died at Willapa Harbor Hospital, South Bend, Saturday, February 15, 2014. He was born in Elma, August 15, 1942, the son of Raymond O. and Velma (Sargent) Simpson.

Robert left school early to support his mother and siblings, working various jobs. He joined Weyerhaeuser in the early 1960s, operating trucks and loaders in the Cosmopolis and Bay City sorting yards. He retired in 2006.

He was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles, the Raymond Elks Lodge and the Seven Rivers Riffle Club in East Hoquiam. He also like to deer hunt, watch his grandchildren play basketball, play dominos and woodworking.

Robert is survived by a son: Steve and wife Angela Simpson, Aberdeen; a daughter: Carrie and husband Urmas Saagim, Graham, WA; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother: Fred Simpson in Georgia; a sister: Betty and husband Chet Hastings, Milton, WA; and his companion: Sharon Lindberg and her two children and one grandchild.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in March. Please watch for further information. Private inurnment will take place in the Satsop Cemetery.
