Sheri Lee Harris, 65, lifetime Tacoma resident unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in Taholah, Washington.
Sheri was born on September 3, 1959, to parents William Batchelder and Betty (Ford) Batchelder, in Tacoma, Washington. Sheri was raised in Parkland, WA alongside her brother, Bill, and graduated from Washington High School in 1977.
After high school, she went to Clover Park Technical College to obtain a medical assistant certificate. Sheri worked all over the Puget Sound area and touched countless lives in Pierce and King Counties during her 40+ year career as a medical assistant. Sheri loved to work, she put her heart and soul into it. She most recently worked for Federal Way Pediatric Clinic where for the last 13 years until her early retirement due to health issues. She loved her job and working with all of the children and their caregivers. She was a natural caretaker, and was devoted to all the kids in the office. She often thought of them as her own grandchildren. She was dubbed the world's best shot giver by many grateful patients and parents.
Outside of work, she loved to be with her family. Sheri had three children: son, Jeremy, and two daughters, Jewel and Jessie, and 6 grandchildren. She loved being a mom, grandma, and was recently overjoyed for her promotion to great-grandma. She enjoyed baking cookies and playing bingo, but especially took pleasure in coffee and good food. When she got too frail to work, she spent her retirement snuggling her beloved pug, Cookie, her grandpups: Henry and Ziggy, and her great-grandpups: Shade and Shadow. She was looking forward to moving with her daughter's family to their new house in Aberdeen, WA. She was excited to work on regaining her strength by taking them for walks in her puggy buggy.
Sheri was a warm and compassionate soul who will be forever cherished as the Crazy Grandma and the Crazy Nurse. She earned those titles with her great sense of humor, her love of letting kids do anything they wanted when they were in her care, and the copious amount of sweets she was known to offer them. She openly bragged about her titles and was grateful we saw her exceptional eccentricities.
Sheri is survived by her children, Jeremy Batchelder, of Tacoma, Washington; and Jessie Harris, of Aberdeen, Washington; son-in-law, David Roberts, of Aberdeen, Washington; 6 grandchildren: Jeremy Jr., Kyla, Braeden, Oliver, Ella, and Harriet; and 2 great-grandchildren. Sheri is preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Batchelder; her brother, Bill Batchelder, her ex-husband Arthur "Glenn" Harris, her daughter Jewel Harris, and her many beloved pets who were always considered part of her family.
