Dorothy Jean Shaw, 83, left this earth to be reunited with her husband on June, 12, what would have been their 67th wedding anniversary. She was born at home on the Wishkah Road on October 20, 1931 to Hazel West and William Parbon. She attended Aberdeen schools and as a teenager worked at the Aberdeen Theater. On June 12, 1948 she married Leonard J. Shaw Sr. In 1959 the couple moved to Cosmopolis, where she lived in the same house until her death. During the 1950s and 1960s Dorothy worked as a waitress at the Smoke Shop and New China Café. She tended bar at The Black Panther (Rainbow Tavern). Dorothy owned and operated Dot’s Inn from 1964-1966, in Aberdeen. Dorothy’s passion and dedication was to her family. She was the typical 1950s housewife and so much more. After raising her three children, she had a big hand in raising her 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. All of whom love her and will miss her very much.
She is survived by her two sons, Leonard (Deb) Shaw Jr. of Hoquiam and David Shaw Sr. of Cosmopolis, her daughter Pamela Nolan of Cosmopolis. Her 5 grandchildren, Sandi Shaw, David (Kerri) Shaw Jr., Jennifer Sharp, Wendy Nolan and Christina Nolan, 5 great-grandchildren, Jade Shaw, Shania Steen, Solomon Sharp, Damion Abraham and Austin Ellis and a step-grandson, Mike Tuffree and his boys, Trenton and Tyton Tuffree.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, her brother William Parbon, her sister Nadine Hollis, granddaughter Salina Shaw, grandson Quincy Shaw and son-in-law Randy Nolan.
A viewing will be from 1-8 pm on Tuesday, June 16th at Fern Hill. A graveside service for close family and friends will be held on June 17th at 11 am at Forest Hill Cemetery. A gathering will take place after the service at Dorothy’s home in Cosmopolis.
