Karolyn Sego, 72, Elma resident and former school teacher, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at her home in Elma.
She was born on October 24, 1940 to Derwood and Thelma (Hall) Stevens in Driggs, Teton, Idaho. They then moved to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho where she graduated from high school. She went to Brigham Young University and graduated with a degree in education and then taught 1st and 2nd grade in Bonners Ferry, ID.
She married Russell Rogers Sego on August 25, 1973 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. He died in 2003.
After getting married, Karolyn quit teaching to raise her 3 sons and 3 step-sons. She moved to Richland, WA and then to Elma thirty years ago.
Karolyn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ward 2 in Elma. She was a huge advocate and devoted many years to helping the Boys Scouts of America. She enjoyed genealogy, cooking, crafting and spending time with her grandkids and pets.
Karolyn is survived by six sons: Charles Sego of Los Angeles, CA, Timothy Sego of Olympia, Master Gunnery Sergeant Russell and wife Debra Sego currently of Okinawa, Japan, Jason and wife Kristina Sego of Finland, Jeremy and wife Chantol Sego of McCleary, and Seth Sego of Elma; three brothers: Larry Stevens of ID; Marvin Stevens of WA; and Clint Stevens of ID; one sister: Cheryl McAtee of ID and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held for Karolyn on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Masonic Cemetery in Elma, WA with a reception immediately following at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
