Maxine “Mickey” Secor, 95, a nearly lifetime resident of the Harbor died at a Tumwater, WA care facility, Wednesday, March 23, 2016. She was born in Aberdeen, August 2, 1920, the daughter of Paul W. and Hilah (Stout) Powell. She grew up on the family homestead in the Newskah Valley and attended a small school in the valley, graduating from Weatherwax High School, Aberdeen.
She was married to Phillip E. Secor and they had lived for a few years in Sitka and Petersburg, AK as they followed his logging work. Mickey would work at a liquor store in Sitka and fish and crab canneries in Petersburg before they returned to the Harbor. She would also work the canneries periodically on the Harbor, but mostly was a mother and homemaker.
She loved the out of doors and her garden and yard. She liked to read and was active in the Hoquiam Senior Center.
Mickey had two sons: John and David Secor, Sr., a brother, William Powell and a sister, Kay Clough, whom have died before her. She is survived by a sister: Eleanor Hahn, Lilliwaup, WA; four grandchildren: David Secor, Jr., Patricia Jankowiak, Jonathan Gitchel and Julie Secor; and several great grandchildren.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, April 13th in Forest Hill Cemetery, Cosmopolis.
