On May 4th, 2011 Geraldine "Pat" Eugenia (Kemp) Salstrom passed away at the age of 89. Pat was born in her Grandma Kemp’s house in Hoquiam on December 11, 1921 to Willard and Della Delia (Wilder) Kemp. She graduated from J. M. Weatherwax High School June 1939. She attended Triple Cities Institute Business College in Aberdeen in the fall of 1939 and graduated 1940. Upon graduating from the Business College she was hired by Grays Harbor Chair Factory in the Personal Department during World War II until after the war ended. She also worked for McDougals in Seattle, Bert Nelson house movers, A & B Machine Shop, and LeMay Garbage until 1965 and than LeMay’s and the City of Aberdeen Water Department from 1965-1985, retiring from the City of Aberdeen Water Department in 1985.
Pat is survived by her Daughters: Sherri and husband Samuel Brooks of Central Park, and Bonnie J. and husband Donald Entus of the Wishkah Valley, and her sons: Steven Scott Salstrom and Mark Lonnie Salstrom of Aberdeen; and, 13 grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Pat was preceded in death by her sister Doris Anna Mae Lowe.
There will be a time of visitation on Sunday, May 15th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and on Monday, May 16th from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Fern Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 16th at Fern Hill Funeral Home, followed by a private family interment at the Fern Hill Cemetery. A gathering will follow at Cornerstone Church.
