Vena Mae Ross, 81, resident of Ocean Shores and operator of Blooms, Baskets and Beyond, died at her home in Ocean Shores, Friday, February 8, 2013. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, April 13, 1931, the daughter of William H. and Vena Mae (Way) Bliss.
She graduated from Highline High School, Burien, in 1949 and had worked in banking in Seattle for many years. She later owned The Little Bit General Store in Oakville before becoming director of sales at Shilo Inn in Ocean Shores. She started the Blooms, Baskets and Beyond Gift Shop in 2002.
Vena married Gerald D. “Jerry” Ross in Burien, December 1, 1973 and he survives her at the family home in Ocean Shores. She is also survived by two sons: Dale Lee Kier and wife Susan Sanders, Shelton and Steve and wife Tammie Cochran, Edmonds, WA; a daughter: Kimberly and husband Kenneth S. Jones, Sr., Ocean Shores; a brother: William H. and wife Carol Bliss, II, Edmonds; and also 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A daughter, Kathleen Louise Kier, preceded her in death in 1999.
Vena enjoyed being with her friends and had travelled to Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
A memorial celebration of Vena’s life will be held at a later time.
