Sharon Rhoden – Snavely

Sharon passed away on November 27, 2022, in Olympia, WA with loved ones by her side.

Born September 6, 1940, in Aberdeen WA to Herman and Dorothy Nystrom. She grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1958.

While working as a Candy Striper at St. Joseph Hospital she met Arthur Lee Rhoden. The two later married on August 20, 1960. They made their home in Central Park where they raised their two boys, Bryan and Brad. Sharon became a well-respected accountant with Aiken and Sanders until branching out on her own as a bookkeeper for local firms/businesses. Sharon wasn’t afraid of too many challenges. She took up golf after she married Lee and soon became a well-respected golfer at the Grays Harbor Country Club. Sharon and Lee would play in local tournaments and enjoyed traveling, finding time to tee it up whenever they could. Sharon and Lee also enjoyed spending time with their close friends dining, dancing and going to Reno. Watching the two float across the dance floor was a treat. Amongst the many talents Sharon and Lee shared was building and remodeling houses, having built several houses in Central Park and at Summit Lake. She always took pride in her landscaping and enjoyed spending time working in her flower beds.

Following the passing of Lee in 1996, Sharon focused her time on family, and improving her golf game. At a class reunion in 1998 she began a new relationship with fellow classmate Michael Snavely. The two were later married on February 24, 2001, in Indio CA, where they made their new home. The two later moved back to Aberdeen in order to be closer to grandkids.

Sharon could always be seen at whatever events her grandkids were involved in and was one of their biggest supporters. When not following her grandkids, Sharon enjoyed her weekly trips to various casinos with her twin sister Shirley. In February 2022 Michael passed. Sharon stayed in their house until she moved to Olympia to recover from surgery. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Lee and second husband Michael. She is survived by son Bryan Rhoden and grandkids Daniel, Uriah, and Russel of Lacey and son Brad (Jennifer) and grandkids LeeAnn (fiancé Jared) and Sawyer (fiancé Carli) of Montesano. Twin sister Shirley (Tom) Gruhn of Central Park and several sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A viewing will take place at Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 3:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held in January. Sharon will be laid to rest with her husband Lee during a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to a local charity.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Sharon Rhoden-Snavely, please visit our flower store.
