Denise Reed

Our beloved Denise Reed passed away on October 27th, 2023, in Ocean Shores at the age of 54 after a battle with cancer. Denise was a near lifelong resident of Grays Harbor, having moved to Montesano from Corvallis, Oregon at the age of 7. After graduating from Montesano High School, Denise attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg and received her degree in Fashion Merchandising. It was at CWU that Denise met the love of her life, Maynard Reed. Denise and Maynard were married in August of 1991 and moved to Central Park to start their family. In 2003, the family moved to Ocean Shores where they continued to reside at the time of her passing. Denise worked as a paraeducator for North Beach High School, the same school where her husband worked as a teacher and her children attended as students. She also worked as an office assistant for the office of Dr. Phillip Gibbs in Aberdeen. Prior to her diagnosis she was a secretary for the Tumwater School District. Of all the jobs Denise held during her life, her favorite one was always being a mom. This love extended to her dogs, which Denise passionately loved and owned many throughout her life. She even raised several litters of Bichon Frise puppies. She was also an extraordinarily talented artist, and the family home continues to have many of her works happily decorating the walls.

Denise is survived by her husband, Maynard Reed; her three children: Sawyer (Rianna) Reed, Tyler (Jessica) Reed, and Holly Reed, her mother Maylene Kyburz, and her siblings Darlene and Dan Kyburz.
