Landin Purcell

July 30, 1965 — June 5, 2023

Landin Kenneth Purcell, 57, Aberdeen resident passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Harbor Regional Health in Aberdeen, Washington.

Landin was born on July 30, 1965 to Raymond Purcell and Brenda (Dowell) Purcell in Wenatchee, Washington. In Landin's younger years he lived in various cities, but as Landin entered high school, he found himself in Bay City, Oregon, in the care of Chuck and Hazel Downie. Chuck pushed him to work hard and never quit. Landin attended Neah-Kah-Nie High School, and graduated in 1983. He was an excellent football player, and voted all league player in high school football. After graduation, Landin worked on the ocean and in the woods. It was during this time he and his longtime girl, Shani, became parents to two beautiful baby girls. Some years later, he moved back to Wenatchee, Wa. and learned how to paint as an employee of his Uncle Mike. He continued with his career as a painter, working for the Wenatchee Valley Clinic.

After approximately 25 years, Landin moved back to Bay City, where he met his old high school crush, Joanne Dockery. The couple married on July 18, 2020 on the field of their old high school. They wore Seahawks jerseys while the officiant wore referee attire. They combined their love of each other, the game, and old high school flames.

Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Aberdeen, Washington where the couple made many close friends. They joined Grays Harbor Foursquare Church. Landin was later baptized in Lake Aberdeen. Landin had some health concerns and previously had to quit working, but he found joy in home ownership and house projects. He built a fully covered deck and a craft room for his wife, Joanne, to enjoy, and he picked up a love for landscaping, creating a beautiful backyard.

Landin’s other joys were gardening, bingo and square-dancing. He began taking square dancing classes with the Harbor Haylofters and learned and completed 69 dance moves. He was scheduled to graduate his class soon. He became known for his dancing moves, his close friends nicknamed him “twinkle toes”, and he loved the adorations.

Landin's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved goofing around with his grandchildren, Slayde and Cayden. At times making silly faces on FaceTime just to hear their laughter, roasting marshmallows in the back yard or swimming in any pool they could. Whatever they wanted to do, he was up for the challenge. Landin was always ready to appear at holidays as Santa Clause or birthday parties in his various clown costumes. He'd do anything for Slayde and Cayden. His favorite thing to do with family was to share a meal, especially when Amber was the chef! He delighted in seeing all those he considered "family" at the table. He will be greatly missed but those left behind have memories to last a lifetime.

Landin is preceded in death by both his parents.

Landin is survived by his wife, Joanne Purcell, of Aberdeen, Washington; daughters, Amber Purcell, of Tigard, Oregon; and Cheryl Purcell, of Portland, Oregon; 2 grandchildren: Slayde and Cayden.
