Lee Charles Peterson, 62, longtime resident of Covington and Terminal Manager for Lynden Transport of Fife, died Friday, February 22, 2013, in Aberdeen, WA.
Lee was born on July 4, 1950, in Dallas, Oregon to Harold "Pete" and Betty (Hegberg) Peterson. They moved to Kent, WA when he was 8 and he later graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1968 and attended Central Washington University.
On September 26, 1970, Lee married Susan Burnett Williams in Kent, WA.
Lee went to work for P.I.E. (Pacific Intermountain Express) in Renton in 1970 and worked there for 10 years. Shortly after, he went to work for Lynden Transport, where he worked for over 30 years until his passing.
Lee was a member of the Green River Eagles Aerie #1490 in Black Diamond, WA. He was also an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, yard work and cooking. He was a very proud father and grandfather, affectionately known as “Papa Lee.”
Lee was also an ordained minister and has performed marriages for close friends and family.
Lee is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Peterson of Covington; a son Kelly (Trish) Peterson of Bonney Lake, WA; two daughters: Kristine (Jason) Willson of Black Diamond, WA and Korie (Jamie) Heckinger of Kent, WA; eight grandchildren: Kyle, Austin, Colton, Zoey, Jack, Zach, Freddy and Henry; mother, Betty Langbehn of Des Moines, WA; a brother, Scott (Kristie) Peterson of Kent, WA. He was preceded in death by his father Pete and a brother, Gary.
A celebration of Lee’s life will take place Sunday March 3rd at 1:00 at Pioneer Park Pavilion: 330 South Meridian Puyallup, WA 98371. The family asks that you please bring your favorite story about their dad.
