Longtime Montesano resident, James Anton Pasic, died at his home Tuesday, January 17, 2017. He was 84. Jim was born in Denver, CO on December 11, 1932, the son of Anton James and Ruby (Williams) Pasic. The family had moved to Denver and Jim graduated from South High School in 1950. He would then get a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University in 1955. He joined the Army and served as an instructor for the Mountain and Cold Weather Training Command at Ft. Carson, Colorado.
Jim met Shirley Mae Forster on the ski slopes of Loveland, CO and they would marry in Denver on December 26, 1955. They would come to Seattle in the late 1950s where Jim would be an engineer for Boeing until he took a position with Ovalstrapping Co. in Hoquiam in 1964 as their mechanical engineer and later as their general manager. Jim would retire in 1994.
The Pasic’s had many wonderful years of retirement. In addition to being an active part of their grandchildren’s lives, they traveled to ski in Austria and enjoyed snorkeling in Hawaii. Shirley would pass away this last June 9th at Elma.
Jim is survived by a daughter: Susan and husband Larry Benedict, Bellevue, WA; three sons: Russell F. Pasic and wife Janet Simmelink, Seattle, Robert A. and wife Kimberly Pasic, Vancouver, WA and Thomas J. and wife Crystal Pasic, Bonney Lake, WA; a sister: Judy Elder, Lexington, KY; and also nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family will have an open house tribute to their parents on Saturday, January 21st from 1 to 4 PM at the family home, 430 N. 9th St., Montesano.
The family requests that donations be made to the Montesano Volunteer Fire Department.
