Allan “Rich” Pacana passed away at his home in Artic, Washington on October 13, 2018 after a very brief illness resulting from a brain tumor. Rich was born July 6, 1944 to Catherine and Wallace Olson in Aberdeen Washington. He was adopted, at the age of four, by Helen and Pete Pacana in Aberdeen.
He went to St Mary’s School and loved his classmates. Rich was a loyal Aberdeen Bobcat and a member of the graduating class of 1962. He loved to go to all the football and basketball games to cheer on (or curse) at his team. He attended Grays Harbor College before moving to Seattle to live with his brothers Gary Olson and Wayne Pacana for a brief period of time.
Rich moved to Los Angeles California and had a marketing company for 33 years. He sold all electronics but his best client was Toshiba which allowed him to travel to New York, Chicago and all over the United States.
Sports was Rich’s thing. In LA he enjoyed playing softball and took pride in the team he put together. He also loved to water ski and take his boat out for mini vacations. He had a 1963 Chevy called the Rat Trick that he raced at the drag strip.
The Dodgers and Huskies were his favorite teams but he supported the Mariners and Seahawks once he moved back to Washington to be with his old childhood girlfriend, Kathy Oestreich.
Rich returned to the Harbor in 1997, married Kathy and together they purchased Clarks Restaurant which is still going after twenty plus years. Rich loved seeing the customers take that first sip of milkshake made with the ice cream he made, or bite into that burger which he designed.
Rich enjoyed helping with his grandchildren, and loved going to all their games. He loved all of his grandkids and treasured their time together. He loved his golden retrievers, kitties and even the horses on the farm.
Rich was preceded in death by all his parents and is survived by his wife, Kathy at the family home in Artic, his older brother Gary Olson in Tucson, Arizona, his younger brother Wayne and his wife Rene in Olympia, Sister Carleen Maynard and husband Scott in Olympia, daughter Angie and husband Tony in Portland, daughter Ranie and husband Dave in Artic and Grandchildren Sierra, Tariko, Landon, Ryder and Walker.
There will be a service on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1 pm at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2515 Sumner Ave, Aberdeen, WA. Go Huskies!
