Alf B. Nordberg, 99, longtime Harborite and former timber worker, died Monday evening, August 11, 2014 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.
Alf was born in Livermore, Iowa to Antone and Bertha (Forcett) Nordberg on May 7, 1915. He came to Grays Harbor in 1931 and attended school in Hoquiam.
In 1934, Alf married Beulah Viola Cooper in Leavenworth, WA. Beulah died in 1998.
Alf worked in the timber industry doing various jobs, including log truck driving. He worked for Rayonier Pulp Mills and for Walker Brothers Mills in North San Juan, CA.
Alf loved to music and could play the fiddle, violin and accordion. He also could be found out walking with his metal detector finding treasures.
Alf is survived by a son, Ted Nordberg of Nebraska and a daughter, Viola Nordberg of Centralia, WA; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren. A son Glenn ‘Carl’ Nordberg, who passed away on August 3rd .
There will be a graveside service for Alf on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 1 PM in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA.
