Michael “Mike” Dale Nault, 61, was born in Waukegan, Illinois on October 11, 1962, and
unexpectedly passed away in the company of his card-playing buddies on Friday, February 16,
2024. Mike attended Hoquiam schools, and began his storied career as a cross country and
track & field athlete in high school. He ran cross-country at Grays Harbor College and at
University of Portland, he excelled as a runner and as a scholar. He attended university on a
sports and academic scholarship, graduating summa cum laude. At 19 years old, he placed 3rd
in the Seattle marathon with a time just under 2 hours and 30 minutes. He also had the
privilege to run the Boston Marathon with his brother. Mike was a fixture on the running circuit
in Western Washington for many years.
Mike loved the exactitude of crunching numbers and in his field of accountancy he was well
liked and well- respected. He loved and took pride in serving the customer base he had
arduously built up at his American Eagle Tax Service. He learned that his down-to-earth
qualities of patience and kindness were great assets when helping others to understand and
benefit from his work. Mike also enjoyed collecting and scouring the Harbor for new finds that
he would share his passion about at the monthly meets at the Satsop Grange. He always
looked forward to time shared with his poker-playing friends.

Jr., of Lady Lake, Florida, and David Nault, of Aberdeen, Washington; half-brother, Michael
Frost, of Olympia, Washington; half-sister, Michelle Frost, of Aberdeen, Washington. Mike is
preceded in death by his mother, Irene Holloway, who passed in 2004.
