Daniel “Dan” Shane Murphy, 54, Humptulips resident and former mechanic passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Harbor Regional Health in Aberdeen, Washington.

Dan was born on August 13, 1969, in Oakland, California. He and his sister, Debbie, were raised in the Stockton area. After graduating from high school, Dan moved to Yakima, Washington in the summer of 1989. He met and married Tina Pulliam on November 17, 1989, in Yakima, Washington. The couple began a family, having their first son, Daniel, in 1990, and their second son, Stuart, in 1991. The family moved to Astoria, Oregon in 1994. After the birth of their third son, Maxwell in 1995, Dan enlisted in the United States Army. He completed both basic and AIT training in Ft. Benning, Georgia, and was later stationed in Wainwright, Alaska; Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; and Butzbach, Germany. In 2002, Dan received an honorable discharge from the military after medical complications. The family then moved to Longview, Washington where Dan became a member of the Oregon National Guard until 2007. Dan and Tina purchased their forever home in Humptulips, Washington in 2016.

Dan enjoyed working on auto and diesel mechanics, riding quads, and fishing. He took pleasure in both building and shooting guns, but his greatest pleasures were spending time with his family and friends. Dan is loved dearly and will be missed beyond measure, his family and friends take comfort that after a long hard battle, Dan is at peace and no longer suffering.

Dan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Tina, of the family home; 3 sons: Daniel Murphy II, Stuart Murphy, and Maxwell (Brie) Murphy; sister, Debbie (Marcus) Karmann; 4 grandchildren: Travis, Zachary, Alana, and Ashton; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews; and even great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

A celebration of Dan’s life is being planned for the end of the summer 2024. Full details will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
