Richard LeRoy ‘Dick’ Moulton, 89, Cosmopolis resident and former Boiler operator for Weyhaeuser’s Cosi Pulp Mill, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.
Richard was born on May 11, 1923 near Sweet, Idaho to Frank and Flora Ann (Deck) Moulton.
His family moved to Emmett, Idaho when he was 9 months old and lived there until he joined the Navy where he worked in the Dry-Docks in the Pacific during WWII. During this time he met and fell in love with Winafred Irene Herndon. After his Honorable Discharge he moved to Vancouver, WA and married Winnie on Feb. 3, 1947.
They moved to Longview in 1949 where he went to work for Weyaeruser in the sawmill. He then moved to Cosi where he went to work at the Cosi Mill in 1960 and worked there until his retirement in 1986.
Richard liked to go fishing, hunting, travel, swimming and being with and visiting his kids and grandkids.
Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Winafred Moulton; two sons: Rodney and wife Laura Moulton and David and wife Janice Moulton both of Seattle; a daughter, Anna and husband Charlie Rabine of Wyoming, Michigan; five grand children, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was the last of 10 brothers and sisters.
There will be a time of visitation on Monday, July 16th from 4-7 PM at Fern Hill Funeral Home. A funeral will take place on Tuesday, July 17th at Noon in Fern Hill Funeral Home’s Chapel. Richard will be buried at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
