Shirley C. Millich, 82, resident of Hoquiam died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.
Shirley was born on August 12, 1929 in Sigurd, Utah to Linden Richard Iverson and Alta Leonys (Hardy) Iverson Hansen. She grew up in Sigurd and graduated from Richfield High School.
She moved to Seattle in 1951 and then to Hoquiam in 1960 where she graduated from Grays Harbor Community College as a LPN.
On November 12, 1948 she married Harold Olaf Grimnes. They later divorced. She then married Jack L. Millich on August 10, 1967 in Olympia. He proceeded her in death in 1993.
Shirley was a LPN at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Hoquiam, WA and before that at St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen, WA.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing genealogy and loved her numerous grandchildren . She was a member Daughters of Utah Pioneers, the Aberdeen Eagles Women’s Auxiliary, Post 24, TOPS and Aberdeen’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grays Harbor Ward.
Shirley is survived by four sons: Paul and wife Janice Grimnes of McCleary, WA, Norman J. and wife Janice Grimnes of Lompoc, CA, Peter C. Grimnes of Wellsville, UT, Michael L. Millich of Hoquiam, WA; Four daughters: Mona L. and husband Richard Folk of Payson, UT, Ramona G. Gosney of Olympia, WA, Linda A. and husband William Ettinger of Otis Orchards, WA and Catherine A. and Willie Monterio of Hoquiam, WA; four stepsons: Harold, Raymond, Robert and David Grimnes; A sister Marjorie Boswell of Utah; numerous grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Shirley was also preceded in death by a son Richard W. Grimnes, a granddaughter Michelle L. Roberts, a grandson Jeremy P. Grimnes, a sister LuDean DiGrande.
There will be a time of visitation and viewing for Shirley on Tuesday, September 27th from 9-11:30 AM in Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA. Funeral service will take place at 1 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grays Harbor Ward, 2735 Riverview Dr., Aberdeen, WA. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA.
