Olga Fredricka Milam, 98, a resident of Elma since 1948, died at Summit Pacific Medical Center, Elma, Friday, May 15, 2020. Olga was born July 19, 1921 in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Edward and Eva (Steinly) Werner. She was raised in Fox Valley until she was seven when the family came to North Dakota. The family operated a farm raising cattle and growing grains. She attended schools in Bowdon, North Dakota.
Olga was married to Wayne Whipple in 1940 in Chasley, ND. They came to Elma in 1948. She was a homemaker and raised the children. Mr. Whipple passed away in 1982. Olga completed her education and attended Aberdeen Beauty School. She then worked for Arv’s Beauty Shop in Elma, retiring in 1984.
She had married Ralph Milam in Elma in 1983. He died in 2013.
Olga was a member of the Elma Eagles for over 45 years. She enjoyed camping at Mt. Rainer and Spirit Lake, and trips to North Dakota enjoying family reunions. She also had traveled to Alaska and Montana. She loved to dance and that is where she met Ralph Milam at the Eagles.
She is survived by four daughters: Sharon (Bill) Barker, Shelton, Arv Duval, Elma, Barbara (Jim) Peek, Elma and Deanna Meister, Elma; eleven grandchildren: Gail (Doug) Goodart, Diane (Pete Rusch) Murrey, Lynn (Glenda) Peek, Michael (Kristin) Peek, Mitchell Quimby, Kevin (Amanda) Quimby, Kenny (Mary) Quimby, Keith (Cindy) Quimby, Travis (Mary) Peek, Scott (Annie) Peek and Ryan (Cliff “Spody” Heckard) Meister; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Paulette Dodgen in 2014; sons-in-law: Charles “Ace” Duvall and Blane Meister; brothers: Eddie, Peter, Harold and Ronald Werner; sisters: Helen Rothacker, Violet Weaver and Bertha Timm; and a grandson: Jeremy Meister in 1988.
Private family services were held in Masonic Cemetery, Elma.
