William “Bill” Grant McDougall, 92, longtime harbor resident, died Thursday, January 11, 2024,
at his home in Montesano.
William was born on January 1, 1932 in Forks, Washington, to Harry Glenwood and Wilma
Constance (Reasor) McDougall. They moved to Aberdeen when he was three and later moved
to the Wishkah Valley.
Bill graduated from Wishkah Valley High School in 1949 and after one year at Grays Harbor
Community College, went to work for the Grays Harbor Road Department, followed by 12 years
building logging roads for Boise Cascade. In 1980, he went to work for the Washington State
Department of Transportation in Central Park and retired as Maintenance Supervisor in 1994.
On August 8, 1964, Bill married Carol Kjesbu in the Montesano Presbyterian Church. She
resides at the family home.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking. He was most content when he had his
whole family around him.
Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol McDougall of Montesano; a son Scott W. (Tammy)
McDougall of South Bend, Washington; two daughters: Kelly L. (Andrea Gair) McDougall of
Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Molly T. McDougall of Montesano; two brothers: Ronald and
Rodney McDougall, both of Aberdeen; a grandson, Zakary S. (Megan) McDougall of South Bend,
Washington, and a great granddaughter, Madelyn J. McDougall of South Bend. Bill was
preceded in death by a grandson, Erik S. McDougall.
There will be a memorial service for Bill on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. Mark’s
Episcopal Church, 124 North Sylvia Street, Montesano, Washington, hosted by Montesano
Community Church.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen,
Washington.
