Norbert Theodore MacMillan, 68, In-Home care nurse and first male to graduate from Grays Harbor College’s Nursing Program, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his home in Aberdeen.

Norbert was born on June 4, 1945 in Middleburgh, New York to Norbert R. and Patricia N. (Usher) MacMillan. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1964 and was Honorably Discharged in 1966. He moved to Trego, Mt at the age of 25 and bought a ranch where he raised beef and kids. He worked on the Alaskan Pipeline in the 70’s as a rock driller. He then went to work for Foster Logging and Construction in Montana where he worked on roads and falling timber. After moving to Washington he continued working with numerous logging companies in the area.

In 1988 he started school at Grays Harbor College where he received a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife and then got his degree in Nursing from Grays Harbor College and was in the top 10 of his graduating class.

Norby was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Grays Harbor College Student Council. He also liked to hunt, fish and was a rock hound and collected fossils.

Norbert is survived by children from his first marriage to Barbara: Robbie, Susan and Buck; children by his second marriage to Mary: Tabitha, Katy, Chance and twins Kirsty and Shelby; A daughter Holli MacMillan with Malissa Evens; Three brothers: Peter and Michael MacMillan and Keith Armlin; Sisters: Dawn Van Thadon and Noreen Rhinehart; Nine Grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Norbert’s life on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Ed & Linda Mustard’s home, 104 Brady loop Rd. East, in Montesano from 1-3 PM.
