Patricia Jean Mack, 68, a longtime Tacoma resident and former computer systems analyst for Alaska Native Industries in Seattle, was found at her home in Westport, WA, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
Patricia was born on May 25, 1944 in Camas, Washington to Wiley and Violet (Black) Mack. They moved to Clatskanie, OR and then to Fairbanks, Alaska where she graduated from Lathrop High School in 1962. She attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma for two years. She then moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Twenty Five years ago she moved to Tacoma, WA where she completed an Associates Degree in Computer Science. After working for the Navy at Bremerton, WA for a couple of years she accepted a position with Alaska Native Industries in Seattle where she worked for the next twenty years. She retired in 2010 and moved to Westport, WA. She had dreamed for years of living on the seashore, so this was a dream come true.
She was a very active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Lakewood, WA. She has attended Coastal Community Church since moving to Westport, WA. She loved traveling and reading. She had just returned from her 50th Class reunion in Alaska in August. Although she had no children of her own she very faithfully helped her grand nieces and nephews and many other children attend camp.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Violet Mack; two half-brothers, Lyndon and Chester Mack; a younger brother, Daniel Mack; and an older sister, Merline (Paul) Miller. Patricia is survived by a brother: Donald and wife Donna Mack of Florida; Two sisters: Merrilee and husband Gene Morrell of Bend, Oregon and Judy and husband Ellis Thornton of Virginia; close friends who were like family to her: Valerie and husband Larry Edgin and Barbara Gibson all of Tacoma, and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will take place on Saturday, September 15, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at Lakewood Church Of The Nazarene. 9308 Meadow Road SW. Tacoma, WA 98499. She will be inurned on her parents' grave in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Vancouver, WA at a later date.
