Dolores Lauzon

February 17, 1921 — December 23, 2014

Dolores Ann Lauzon, 93, of Bremerton, died December 23, 2014 in Tacoma, WA. Dolores, “Dee” was born February 17, 1921 in Aberdeen, WA to John Mathias and Clara Rosa (Van Loo) Jasper. She grew up in Aberdeen where she graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School and Weatherwax High School in 1929. Later she attended Olympic College in Bremerton.

On August 1, 1942 she married George William Lauzon in San Diego, CA. For the duration of World War Two she worked on the assembly line as a parts station attendant in Production Control for Consolidated Vultee Aircraft alongside “Rosie the Riveters”. After the war, she and George returned to Washington State, raising their three daughters in Aberdeen, Shelton and Bremerton. Dee worked for the Bremerton School District in the Food Service Department and was a member of the SEIU Local #114, now local #925 of Seattle, for fifty years.

Dee was active in PTA, Girl Scouting and her church. She was a charter member of Holy Trinity Church, Bremerton, participating in the church guild and senior club. After her retirement in 1982, she volunteered at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop for twelve years.

She started making dance, party, parade costumes and floats for her children. She is especially remembered for making costumes modeled after ornaments and wearing them to the Kitsap Peninsula Hallmark Collectors Club meetings where she was a charter member. She won prizes for her beautiful and clever outfits. Even in her late eighties, she wowed fellow assisted living residents by winning first prize at Halloween for her hand sewn creations up to the age of 91. That’s when she decided to let someone else win for a change.

Dee is survived by three daughters: Lois (Doug) Quail, University Place, WA, Carol Lauzon, Snohomish, WA and Rita (Mark) Lauzon, Issaquah, WA; three grandchildren: Laurel Whitley, Lindsay (Andrew) Belcher and Daniel Lauzon; three great grandchildren: Caleb, Hanna and Baby Belcher due in April; a sister: Pat Lonac, Aberdeen; a brother, Jack Jasper, Westport; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, two sisters: Lidwina Tromp and Wilma McCullough and two brothers: Irvin Jasper and Ronald Jasper.
