Lucille E. Lasell, 96, life-long resident of the Harbor, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Wednesday, July 23, 2014. She was born August 1, 1917 in Tacoma, WA, the daughter of James L. and Mollie C. (Weinland) Morgan.
She spent her childhood at Pacific Beach and attended school there graduating from Moclips High School in 1935. She attended DeWitt’s Beauty School in Aberdeen, remaining there, teaching for several years. During World War Two, she worked as a secretary in the offices of the Army Corp of Engineers in Seattle.
Lucille married Ranson G. Lasell in Aberdeen in 1951. They built their home in Central Park and resided there for many years. Ranson died in 1986.
In earlier years, Lucille enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, attending art classes taught by Del Kay. She was also a member of the Grays Harbor Camera Club. She enjoyed playing the organ and reading and was a collector of old books. She and Ranson also raised blueberries which were enjoyed by neighbors and other friends. They also enjoyed traveling.
Lucille is survived by two nephews: Fred J. Huff, Palm Springs, CA and Robert Bronson, Washougal, WA; and two nieces: Nancy Booth, Central Park and Toni Kowalis, Salem, OR.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, July 30th, in the Fern Hill Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend David Monsen will officiate. Private entombment will follow at the Fern Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
