Valda Larsen

March 21, 1929 — November 25, 2015

Valda Gail Larsen, a Grays Harbor resident since 1956, passed away at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center Saturday, November 28, 2015. She was born in Springfield Missouri on March 21, 1929, the daughter of Jesse Allen and Ida Frances (Webb) Crain.

Mom graduated from Hartville Missouri High School in 1946 and was the Senior Class Student Body President. She moved to Longview, Washington with her Father after high school graduation and it was in Longview that she met and married Paul R. Larsen in 1947. Their marriage lasted 54 years, until Dad’s passing on May 16, 2001.

While in Longview, Mom worked as a secretary at Weyerhaeuser and also International Harvester until she and Dad started their family. Their four children, Janice, Paula, Allen and Sharon were born in Longview. The Larsen family moved to Cosmopolis in 1956 when Dad was transferred to the Cosmopolis Weyerhaeuser Pulp Mill. Mom was worked for 3 years at the Cosmopolis Post Office.

Mom was active as a charter member of the Cosmopolis Lionettes and also as a Past Noble Grand in the Cosmopolis Rebekah Lodge. She was a member of the Cosmopolis Methodist Church and later the Aberdeen Methodist Church. Mom and Dad enjoyed square dancing and also enjoyed visiting the Washington coast beaches. Most important to Mom was the time spent with family.

Valda was a loving Mother to Janice Harder, Cosmopolis, Paula and husband Steven Boyce, Stanwood WA, Allen Larsen and wife Becky, Montesano, and Sharon and husband Dudley Kell, Cosmopolis. She was our beloved Nannie to 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her step sister Marjorie Brown, Reno NV and was preceded in death by step sister, Virginia Goff; step brothers: David, Danny and Donald Reynolds.

Visitation and greeting of friends will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2 at the Chapel of Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen.

Private vault interment will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Cosmopolis, WA.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Cosmopolis Lions Club, P.O. Box 49, Cosmopolis, WA 98537 or the Cosmopolis Fire Department, P.O. Box 2011, Cosmopolis, WA 98537.
