Zlatko Kulisich

Zlatko “Zeek” Kulisich, 72, a Hoquiam resident, passed away on Wednesday Jan. 27, 2021, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington.

Zeek was born on Jan. 3, 1949, to Santo and Marija Kulisich on the island of Veli Iz, Croatia. He spent his childhood on the island and left Croatia when he joined the Merchant Marines at 16, serving for four years.

In 1970 he moved to Hoquiam and married Lucile Braykovich, whom he was married to for 44 years until her passing in March 2014. He was a member of the Eagles, had a certificate in welding from Grays Harbor College and worked at Evans Plywood, Mayer Brothers and the Little Hoquiam Shipyard before retiring. Zeek liked to tinker and could often be found listening to music in his shop while working.

Zeek is preceded in death by his wife Lucile. He is survived by his son Anthony Kulisich (Tammie Jacobs) of Hoquiam, daughter Andrea (Jared) Braaten of Hoquiam, brother Tonci (Mira) Kulisich of Croatia, two grandchildren: Kylie Braaten age 18 and Camden Braaten age 14.

Due to Covid there will be no formal services at this time. A private burial will take place at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, Washington.
