Jerry Keltner

August 8, 1941 — July 14, 2018

Jerry L. Keltner, 76, of Aberdeen, passed away July 14, 2018, in Montesano. He was born August 8, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Charles and Helen (Coll) Keltner. His family moved to the Portland/Vancouver area where his father worked in the shipyards during World War II.

On St. Patrick’s Day 1947 his family moved to Montesano, WA where Jerry graduated from Montesano High School in 1959 and attended Grays Harbor College graduating in 1961. Jerry then graduated from Western Washington State College in June 1963.

On June 22, 1963 he married Sue Menth in Seattle. They celebrated their 55th anniversary this June. Jerry worked for the Aberdeen School District for 32 years as a Speech Pathologist/Audiologist. He received his Masters Degree from Western Washington University in 1980. He was an Aberdeen City Councilman for twenty years, 1976-96, and was council president six times. He also served as Aberdeen’s representative on the Grays Harbor Regional Planning Commission for 17 years.

At the time of his passing he was a member of Driftwood Players, Aberdeen Elks, N.R.A., and WEA-Retired. Jerry was on the board for Grays Harbor Rifle & Pistol Club and Harbor Home Health and Hospice. His interests included remodeling his home, carpentry, stained glass, clam digging, fishing, hunting, canning, dehydrating and cooking.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sue; a son: Larry and daughter-in-law Sue; two granddaughters: Kristin Bogar and Lanna Keltner, along with four great-granddaughters: Kaylee, Brooklyn, Haven and Rilynn; and a brother Richard Keltner and wife Jean Atwell.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held from 1-3PM, Sunday, July 22nd, at the Driftwood Players Theatre, Aberdeen.
