Helen “June” Johnson, 85, longtime Wishkah Valley resident and homemaker, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Grays Harbor Health & Rehab Center in Aberdeen after a long battle with cancer.
June was born on May 2, 1929 in Cosmopolis, Washington to Oscar and Johanna (Berild) Relling. She grew up in Hoquiam and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1948 and went to work for Pacific Northwest Bell.
On September 23, 1949, June married Clarence Johnson in Hoquiam and moved to the Wishkah Valley where she became a homemaker for her family. She supported her family and was active in her children and grandchildrens events. Clarence passed away on February 6, 2008.
June was a member of the Wishkah Valley Community Church and enjoyed Bible studies, prayer groups and reading.
June is survived by two daughters: Lorrie A. and husband Doug Pierce of the Wishkah Valley and Carol J. and husband Matti Tuhkanen of Aberdeen; by two sons: Kenneth R. and wife Brenda Johnson and Donald A. and wife Jeanette Johnson all of the Wishkah Valley; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Hansen and May Salisbury.
There will be a celebration of June’s life on Saturday, May 17th at 1:00 PM at the Wishkah Valley Community Church. June will be inurned with her husband Clarence at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen.
