James Hutson

James Randall Hutson, 58, passed away September 3, 2023 in Quinault. He was born February 21, 1965 to Jimmy Hutson and Phyllis Hurst Hutson Moore.

Randy is survived by his mother and step-father Phyllis and Ray Moore of Gainesville; uncle James Hurst of Gainesville; aunt Mary Dooley of Modesto, CA; very special cousins Bill and Sandra Haney of Prosper, Larry, Donna, and Natalie Lawver of Waxahachie, Lisa and Paul Johnson and children of Van Alstine, Lori Smith and sons of Celina, Jane Lillard Tassiello and husband Joe and family of Oklahoma City; many loving cousins in Texas and California; step-brother Jim Moore and family of Thackerville, OK; step-sister Kim Dane and family of Pilot Point, TX; many, many beloved friends locally and in Quinault, WA where he had resided for the last 20 years.

Mr. Hutson was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Hutson, sister Kelly Hutson, maternal-grandparents Johnnie and Willard Hurst, paternal-grandparents Ruth and Allen Hutson.

Randy had a whimsical sense of humor and had gained many, many friends over the years. He was dearly loved by his family and was well known for his very kind heart. He was extremely smart, excelling academically in school especially in computer science where as a student he taught adults how to use computers in business. He was a member of the golf team and showed his acting talents in the drama club. Graduating from Callisburg High School in 1983, he went on to earn his bachelor’s and then his master’s in computer science at Texas A&M.

Randy was enrolled in the cradle roll department at the Grand Ave. Baptist Church at less than a week old. He was a very active member there until he left Gainesville to attend college.

Randy was truly at one with nature, climbing and hiking many mountains. He loved to explore the outdoors and had a strong affinity for trees. He grew closer to God through nature.

A graveside service for James was held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 11, 2023 in Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Larry Huffman officiating.
