Dorothy Ann Hoffman, 76, a lifetime Aberdeen resident and former bookkeeper for Aberdeen School District, died Thursday afternoon, May 26, 2011 at Grays Harbor Health & Rehab Center in Aberdeen.
She was born on April 13, 1935 in Aberdeen to Vern and Helen (Steiner) Dimler. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1953.
On June 19, 1954, Dorothy married Kenneth L. Hoffman in Aberdeen. He later died on October 8, 2008.
Dorothy worked for The Aberdeen School District in Accounts Payable for 22 years, retiring in 1995.
Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen, St. Mary’s Guild, and volunteered at Feed The Hungry and the Clothing Bank.
Dorothy enjoyed camping, crafts, sewing and playing pinochle.
Dorothy is survived by two sons: Keith (Jody) Hoffman of Hoquiam and Gary (Paula) Hoffman of Alabama; three daughters: Cathy (Dave Douglass) Ferrier of Hoquiam, Sheryl (Jay) Robinson of Troy, MT and Judy (John) Lawrence of Hoquiam; a brother: John (Judy) Dimler of Montesano and a sister: Phyllis (Mike) Zawislak of Aberdeen. Thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth; infant daughter Barbara and a brother Eugene Dimler.
There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 1-8 PM in Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 2nd at 1 PM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Steven Roman.
