Jean Hilliard

April 21, 1931 — April 22, 2012

Jean Catherine Hilliard passed away in Bellevue April 22, 2012 the day after her 81st birthday.

She was born April 21, 1931 in Valley Stream New York to Robert John and Bessie Hamilton Haddow.

Jean graduated with honors from Valley Stream Central High School in 1948.

While attending St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Spokane, WA, Jean met WSU veterinarian student Glenn A Hilliard. They were married on June 23, 1951.

Upon Glenn receiving his DVM degree, the family moved to Bellevue WA. In 1957 they returned to Glenn’s beloved hometown, Aberdeen where they built and operated the Aberdeen Animal Hospital and raised their three sons. Jean instilled her love for music in the boys and she lent her soprano voice to the Presbyterian Church choir, the Lyric Singers and several musical productions over the years.

In the 1980s, Jean and Glenn built and enjoyed their dream retirement home on Summit Lake. In 2001 they moved to Panorama City in Lacey. Jean continued her music with the Panorama Choir and became a board member of the Greater Olympia Dixieland Jazz Society.

Jean’s husband of 58 years Dr. Glenn Hilliard passed away in January 2010.

She is survived by sons Robert, Gary and Bruce; daughter-in-laws Margaret and Lynda; brother-in-law Richard and wife Colleen, four granddaughters, five great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sat. May 19th at Fern Hill Funeral Home Aberdeen, WA.
