Gerry Goheen

January 28, 1924 — April 10, 2015

Geraldine (Gerry) Goheen, 91, former Aberdeen resident and former owner and operator of Major Line Products in Hoquiam, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Everett, WA.

Gerry was born on January 28, 1924 in Hoquiam, WA and was the daughter of Alfred and Laura Major and Jessie Eaton whom Alfred married following the death of Laura in 1934. Gerry graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1942 and then attended Washington State College for two years where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

Gerry married Gordon Goheen (deceased in 1979) on August 12, 1944 and they lived in Aberdeen until 1974 when they sold Major Line Products. They then moved to Port Townsend and in 1977 relocated to Federal Way where Gerry began working for Scandia Down. In 1992 Gerry moved to Des Moines where she lived for over 20 years in Huntington Park during which time she retired from Scandia Down in the early 2000’s. In 2012 Gerry made a final move to Everett to live with her daughter Laurie and family.

Gerry served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen and as a deacon at Marcus Whitman Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. She was a charter member of PEO Chapter DP of Aberdeen in 1949 and was a lifetime member.

She is survived by three sons: Fred (wife Barbara) Goheen of Aberdeen, Greg (wife Della) Goheen of Olympia and Mike (wife Heidi) Goheen of Maple Valley; five daughters: Sharon (husband Bob) Hymer of Lake Stevens; Susan Goheen of Seattle, Linda Goheen (partner Chanelle Cooper) of Seattle, Laurie (husband Bob) Reith of Everett and Marilyn (husband Darrin Michael) Ballard of Edmonds; eleven grandchildren: Jeff Goheen, Bryan Goheen, Gavin Goheen, Jennifer Allen, Nicole Loutsis, Taylor Ballard, Alex Ballard, Claire Ballard, Jeremy Reith, Blake Goheen, Bryce Goheen; as well as seven great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Gerry’s life on May 2, 2015 at 1:00 at Marcus Whitman Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, WA. There was a private entombment at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen, WA.
