Betty Jane Goetsch, 89, longtime Thurston County resident and former Claims Adjudicator for Labor & Industries, died Sunday, July 7, 2024, in Lacey, WA.
Betty was born on September 20, 1934, in Olympia, WA to Ralph and Bertha M. (Rutledge) Cutts. She grew up in Littlerock and graduated from Olympia High School in 1952. She attended South Sound Community College later in life for Accounting.
On October 17, 1953, Betty married Jack E. Goetsch at the Littlerock Methodist Church. Jack resides at the family home outside Tumwater.
She moved to Olympia for the next 3 years following her marriage. They then moved to Tumwater in 56 until moving south of town in 1994.
Betty worked for Dr. H.D. Lillibridge MD as a receptionist and Nurse. She then worked for the State of Washington at various agencies, eventually retiring from the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries in 1995. She went to work part-time for Hallmark at Capital Mall and also got the grandchildren working there during the holidays.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Tumwater United Methodist Church. She enjoyed collecting Hallmark ornaments.
Betty is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jack E. Goetsch of Olympia, WA; a daughter, Debra L. Goetsch of Olympia; a sister, Alice Parker of East Olympia; two grandchildren: Angela Vanderhoof and April Michelle Yancey; twin Great Granddaughters: Kaidence and Cloey Yancey.
There will be a celebration of Betty’s life on Saturday, July 27th at 11:00 AM at the Tumwater United Methodist Church.
