Theodora "Teddy" M. Giddings, 97, former resident of Brooklyn, WA died Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Beehive Retirement and Assisted Living Community in McCleary, WA.
Teddy was born on July 24, 1926, in Aberdeen to Theodore Karl and Marta Berta (Schlotterbeck) Wieland. She spent most of her life in Brooklyn and graduated in 1945 from North River High School in Brooklyn. She worked at the Saginaw Logging Camp in Brooklyn, and was a telephone operator for Pacific Northwest “Ma” Bell in the 40’s in Aberdeen. Teddy then worked for a while beside her husband at The Shipyard Cafe they operated in Aberdeen. During the Mt. St. Helens eruptions in 1980, Teddy was employed by the Department of Emergency Management. She was for the most part a homemaker.
Teddy met Oliver "Ollie" Giddings at the Saginaw Logging Camp in Brooklyn, WA. On July 29, 1950, Teddy married Ollie in Centralia, WA. He died on March 7, 1980.
Teddy is survived by a son, Carl (Karin) Giddings of Grapeview, WA; two daughters: Dora (Dennis) Austin of Lacey, WA and Martha (Bernie) Hooper of Shelton, WA; a stepson, Verne (Helen) Giddings of Bothell, WA; and a stepdaughter, Andrea (Ken) Pollick of Hermiston, OR; a brother, Carl (Margie) Wieland of Olympia; many grandchildren and a multitude of great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Teddy was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie, a brother Albert Wieland, and two grandsons, Christopher Giddings and Thomas Pollick.
There will be a funeral service for Teddy on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11 AM in Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA. A private family internment service will follow later at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA.
