Longtime Harbor resident Sarah Ruth Geer, 66, died at her home in Aberdeen, Thursday, December 5, 2013. She was born in Murphysboro, IL, March 2, 1947, the daughter of Floyd and Pauline
(Dameron) Childers.
Sarah came to the Northwest in the early 1970s. She was married to Albert G. Geer, Sr. at Big Sur, CA in 1976. They lived in Monterey, CA until returning to Hoquiam in 1982. Albert died here in 2008.
She had been a homemaker and had been a member of the Wishkah Swingsters and the Harbor Haylofters, square dance clubs on the Harbor. She also liked to crochet and knit and go camping at camps at the rainforest, Quinault and Millersylvania near Olympia.
Sarah is survived by three sons: John and Tony Ritchie and Albert G. Geer, Jr., all of Aberdeen; two daughters: Isabel “Liz” (Bill) Charbonneau, Broken Arrow, OK and Ruth Peterson, Gellespie, IL; and also six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Fern Hill Funeral Home from 1 to 8 PM Thursday, December 12th. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, December 13th at the funeral home. Vault interment will take place at Fern Hill Cemetery.
