Joanne Gannon, 63, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, died at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, Monday, February 25, 2013.
She was born in Piere Valley, El Centro, California, July 31, 1949 the daughter of Johnny and Mildred Bonnie (Neely) Velsco.
She married Dale Gannon in Tijuana, Mexico November 26, 1963 and they went to Costa Mesa, CA in 1964. They later went to Elmira, OR in the late 1960s before coming to Hoquiam in 1975.
She had worked in nursing homes in California and had been an in-home caregiver locally until recently.
Joanne liked to collect salt and pepper shakers, was creative with beading, bred poodles and going to the beach, her family was paramount to her and spending time with them is what brought joy to her life. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, her home was always decorated with lights.
She is survived by her mother: Bonnie Velasco,
Riverside, CA; Four sons: Timothy, David, Shawn and Edward Gannon, all of Aberdeen; four brothers: Jesse Vaidavid of Aberdeen, Jerry Velasco, in Oklahoma, Martin “Yogi” Angelas and Henry Jewell, both of California; three sisters, Mary Lou Dalton, Riverside,
CA and Rosemary Scott and Carmen Kwait, both in California; and also 9
grandchildren: Nina, Stephanie, Travis, Brian, Stacie, Raelynn, Shane and Timmy; Three great grandchildren. Two brothers, Larry and John Velasco, died before her.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 2 PM in the Parish Hall at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in Hoquiam.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in behalf of Joanne Gannon.
