Odmun Ingvald Ericksen, 92, longtime resident of the Harbor, died at an Olympia care center, Sunday, February 10, 2013. He was born in Kvefjord, Norway, January 4, 1921, the son of Olaf Alfred and Anna Karolina (Norman) Ericksen.
He came with his family to Seattle in 1929 and later went to Ketchikan, Alaska where he graduated from high school. He came to Seattle in 1940 and and attended the University of Washington. When World War Two began he joined the Army in 1942, serving in the Signal Corps until 1945. Following the War he continued in commercial fishing. He was married to Nina Peterson in Seattle, November 7, 1959 and they came to the Harbor where they made their home in East Hoquiam. He ownedg and operated his own boats until 1973. Nina passed away here in 2006.
Odmun was a member of the Lutheran Church and enjoyed taking care of his yard.
He is survived by a son: Philip, Central Park; a sister: Aud Brosio, Seattle; a half-brother: Robert Spielman, Kirkland, WA; a brother-in-law: Walter “Botch” Peterson, Montesano; and also a grandson: Justin Ericksen, Yakima.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11:30 AM, Saturday, February 16th at Fern Hill Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at Noon, Saturday, February 16th in the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home.
