Marilyn Jeannette Elway, 77, Cosmopolis resident and bookkeeper at Elway Plumbing in Aberdeen, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at her home in Cosmopolis, WA.
Marilyn was born in Eugene, Oregon to Thor and Thelma (Wilson) Vaughn. She moved to Aberdeen in the 1st grade and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1957. She then graduated from Grays Harbor Community College with her AA and then worked for West Coast Airlines as a Flight Attendant for a couple of years.
On February 17, 1961, Marilyn married Michael Elway in Cosmopolis.
Mike was drafted into the Army soon after marriage. She followed him to Texas and then to Mannheim, Germany. They returned to the harbor follow his Honorable Discharge. In 1988, she went to work at Elway Plumbing as the bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles Auxiliary and then to Elma Eagles Auxiliary. She at one time, was the Den Mother of Boy’s Scout and a Camp Fire Leader. She loved spending time with her grandkids and traveling.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mike Elway of Cosmopolis; Sons: Dennis Elway of Cosmopolis and Robert (Diane) Elway of Hoquiam; a daughter, Megan Elway and companion Craig Guarisco of Aberdeen; a brother Herb Vaughn of Montesano; six grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of Marilyn’s life on Friday, January 27th at 1:00 PM in Fern Hill Funeral Home’s Chapel. Afterwards, a pock luck reception at the Cosi Lions’s Club,
