Central Park resident, Phyllis “Louise” Dunjic, passed away surrounded by her loved ones, Saturday May 20, 2017 in Seattle. Louise was born in Aberdeen on September 19, 1950, the daughter of Gilbert and Phyllis (Lorenzini) Mitchell. She grew up in Cosmopolis and Aberdeen, graduating in 1968 from Aberdeen High School. Louise’s first job was at SeaFirst Bank writing shorthand with her beautiful penmanship, which drew countless compliments over the years.
Louise met her husband, Novak “Nick” Dunjic at the bank and he courted her at a Grays Harbor College Choker game. They were married on July 18, 1974 and made their home on the Harbor. Together they built three houses and have resided for the last 30 years in their Central Park home that Louise loved decorating for the holidays and where she delighted in hosting family and friends.
She had a fulfilling 44 year career with SeaFirst and Bank of America in Aberdeen, working with the community and “handing out suckers” as her daughters described her job when they were little.
In 2011, Louise retired for her favorite career of all, being a nana. She loved playing with her grandkids and taking them on adventures. She took them on trips to the beach, arcades, Disneyland and Europe, but their favorite place to go was Nana’s house because it was full of love and toys.
Louise is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, Nick; two daughters: Daniele Dunjic Zeitner (Brad), North Bend, WA and Erika Dunjic Anderson (Bjorn), Sammamish, WA; four grandkids: Zachary (6), Zoe (3), Torben (1) and Freyja (1 month); a brother: Robert Mitchell (Jeanette), Central Park; Nieces: Nicole Mitchell (Angel) and Haley McDougall (Patrick); grand-nephews: Jaxon, Mason and Cruz; and her loving Aunt Carolyn Lorenzini.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, June 17th at the Rotary Log Pavilion, Aberdeen. A private family interment will be held at Fern Hill Cemetery.
